History of recurrent herpes labialis lesions where:

At least 50% of previous episodes produced classical lesions

Prodromal symptoms (itching, tingling, pain etc.) should precede herpes labialis lesions in at least 50% of the previous herpes episodes

Good general health, immunocompetent

Isomnia

Age 18 and older

Difficulties initiating or maintaining sleep, accompanied by marked distress or daytime impairments due to insomnia

Sleep difficulties present 3 nights or more per week and lasting for more than 6 months

Major depression research study
